Service questions
Good to know.
What is cabinet refacing, and how is it different from replacing cabinets?
Refacing keeps suitable cabinet boxes in place and renews what you see: doors, drawer fronts, exterior panels, trim and hardware. Full cabinet replacement removes the boxes and is usually the better route when the layout, structure or cabinet condition needs major change.
Is cabinet refacing right for every kitchen?
No. Refacing is a strong option when the existing layout works and the cabinet boxes are dry, level and structurally sound. Kitchens with mould, water damage, failing boxes or major layout problems may need repair or replacement instead. Framed and frameless cabinets are assessed individually because edge condition and construction vary.
What condition do the existing cabinet boxes need to be in?
The boxes need to be stable, reasonably level, securely installed and free from mould, active moisture damage, major swelling or structural failure. CRN Studio inspects the existing cabinetry before confirming that refacing is appropriate.
What parts of the kitchen are replaced during a refacing project?
The typical visible scope includes doors, drawer fronts and exterior cabinet surfaces. Matching panels, toe kicks, crown moulding, trim, handles and other hardware can also be renewed where required. The final inclusions are listed in the written quote.
Can the kitchen layout be changed during refacing?
Refacing is designed to keep most of the existing layout, but limited modifications may be possible. Moving cabinets, plumbing or electrical services can turn the work into a larger renovation and will depend on site conditions, permits and the trades required.
Can countertops, sinks, hardware or tile be added to the same project?
Yes. CRN Studio can add countertops, sinks, hardware and selected tile installation as a larger project scope. These items are quoted separately and may affect the schedule.
How long does a typical cabinet refacing project take?
On-site refacing commonly takes about one working week after materials are ready, although kitchen size, condition and added services can change the schedule. Keeping the existing layout and leaving major plumbing and electrical work undisturbed helps reduce disruption.
Will we still be able to use our kitchen during the work?
In most cases, the kitchen remains partly usable outside active work hours because the cabinet boxes, sink and stove can often stay in place. Access will be limited while the crew is working, and the exact plan is confirmed before installation.
How much does cabinet refacing cost compared with a full renovation?
Cabinet refacing can cost substantially less than a full replacement because suitable boxes stay in place and major layout, plumbing, electrical, flooring and demolition work can often be avoided. Actual savings depend on cabinet condition, kitchen size, materials and added services. CRN Studio provides a project-specific written quote rather than promising a fixed percentage.
What materials, door styles and finishes are available?
CRN Studio works directly with Epic Doors, a British Columbia wholesale cabinet-door manufacturer. Available product lines include MDF doors and drawer fronts with thermofoil finishes, raw MDF options, Shaker and Slim Shaker profiles, and matching accessories. Collections and colours can change, so final selections are verified with current supplier information and physical samples.
Do you remove and dispose of the old doors and drawer fronts?
Yes. Removal and normal disposal of the old doors, drawer fronts and replaced materials can be included. Any unusual or hazardous material is identified and handled separately in the written scope.
Do you provide design help, measurements, samples and a written quote?
Yes. CRN Studio reviews the space, takes project measurements, helps compare profiles, finishes and hardware, provides available samples, and prepares a written project-specific quote before work is approved.
What warranty applies to the materials and installation?
Selected Epic door products are advertised with a five-year manufacturer warranty. Applicable product coverage and CRN Studio’s separate workmanship coverage will be confirmed in the written proposal for each project. Warranty coverage can vary by product, finish, use and care requirements.
Which communities do you serve for cabinet refacing?
CRN Studio is based in Kelowna and reviews cabinet-refacing projects in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Vernon, Penticton and the wider Okanagan. Availability depends on location, scope and schedule.
